Belton Cheese Secures New Co-op Listing

Shropshire based Belton Cheese has secured a new listing and increased orders from supermarket chain the Co-op.

The national supermarket chain has announced that Belton’s distinctly flavoured Red Fox cheese will be listed in 324 Co-op stores around the country whilst also increasing its listing of Truly Irresistable Belton Mature Cheshire Cheese to more than 1,300 stores. This is a further reinforcement of the renewed demand for Cheshire cheese.

Red Fox will be listed under Belton’s own ‘Belton Farm Red Fox’ label and will be on shelves from 29th April. Meanwhile, the increased distribution of Cheshire Cheese will be in effect from 24thApril, when 200g pre packs will hit Co-op shelves.

It comes following a recent spate of success for Belton Cheese who began hand making Red Fox at Belton Farm in 2011 and have since won five major cheese show awards. It was also recently added to Morrisons deli counters and reached new overseas markets when it was shipped to US distributor Anco last month.

Milica White, senior national account manager at Belton Cheese, said: “The demand for Red Fox from independent delis through to retailers in both the UK and overseas reinforces just how unique a product it is. We are thrilled to be supplying so many Co-op stores with this cheese and are delighted that it will be on shelves in its original Belton Cheese Red Fox branded pack.”

Red Fox was developed over many years to produce a Red Leicester cheese with added crunch and is matured for up to 18 months. It is an intense and complex blend of sweet, savoury and nutty distinctive flavours. Russet in colour and developed through watchful maturation, it has a wonderful rugged mouth-feel and leaves the palate with a lingering flavour making it incredibly moreish.
