Belton Cheese is celebrating another outstanding performance at this year’s International Cheese Awards having accrued more points than any other entrant and being crowned ‘Best in Show’. The company was awarded the National Westminster Trophy for the third consecutive year for their points coup, an unprecedented achievement.
The Shropshire-based business also received the Berkel Trophy, the Trophy for Supreme Creamery Cheshire Cheese, the Tesco Red Leicester Trophy and the Belton Cheese Trophy for Champion Creamery Territorial. Belton also scooped a fantastic 12 Gold awards, seven Silver and 10 Bronze.
Speaking from the awards, the company’s Managing Director Justin Beckett said: “We are absolutely delighted with our achievements here today. The International Cheese Awards is the highlight of the awards season for the industry and it is an honour to have our products celebrated in front of hundreds of our peers and customers.”
The International Cheese Awards, now in its 116th year, is hosted annually in Nantwich. Belton fought off stiff competition after a record 4,285 entries were logged across 283 categories. Entrants this year came from 27 different countries showing the ever growing international reach of the awards.
Added Justin: “This event gets bigger every year and we are very proud to have received this recognition, a continuation of our success following the 62 awards and 12 trophies we have already won in 2013.
“For us and all of the people we work with it’s important to put on a great performance – what better than being the highest point’s producer in the show.”
